A renovation of butterfly valves at Temelín NPP

As a winner of the tender announced by ČEZ a.s. we carried out a complete renovation of Sigeval butterfly valves DN600 and DN800 delivered and put into operation at nuclear power plant in 2013.

The main steps of renovation included the replacement of soft sealing elements (liners), the repair of other steel parts, the overhaul and repair of AUMA electric actuators and the repair of coatings. We also performed strength, tightness and functional test of valves.

Because it was so-called „Selected Equipment“ according to the Atomic Act 263/2016 Coll., BT3, according to §12, paragraph 3, letter d), ann. 358/2016 Coll., a plan of inspections and tests had to be approved before the start of the service order. Although the renovation involved only two butterfly valves, due to the high quality control requirements, the accompanying documentation of the service order contains 30 pages documenting the progress of order (measurement of parts, assembly, testing and functional verification). A special feature of the contract, which took place during the pandemic period, was the approval of all control points exclusively electronically without physical presence of the inspectors.
